Space Opera With a Twist

Month: May 2021

Big News

I just signed a contract with Tantor Media for the audiobook rights to my Ashes of Empire series. All four books will be published in audiobook version over the coming months. Some of you might recall that Tantor Media produced the first three Siobhan Dunmoore books in audio in 2017.

As I find out the publication date of each volume, I’ll let you know. Stay safe and healthy, fellow humans.

The Ides of May

Summer-like weather has finally arrived this mid-May, along with flowers, leaves in the trees and lots of sunshine. And on this 15th day of May, I’ve reached the halfway mark writing the seventh Siobhan Dunmoore adventure. I’m pretty satisfied with progress and with the story to date. One of the things this and potentially further Dunmoore books will do is bridge the gap between the end of the Shrehari War and the Commonwealth of the Decker’s War era, which means less fighting and more intrigue. And that in turn means secondary characters we know from previous Dunmoore books will take on a larger role. Those of you who read Decker’s War, Constabulary Casefiles, and Ghost Squadron may know who I’m talking about, and remember some of what happened in those tumultuous decades.

The way things are going, it’ll likely be a late July publication date. In the meantime, watch this space for further updates.

Stay safe and healthy, fellow humans.

A Change for the Better

May Flowers

April sure went by in a flash, and the weather was the usual mixed bag. We even had snow flurries yesterday, though the sun is shining brightly this morning. Still, the weather will remain rather cool, with temperatures below average, for a while longer. But that’s par for the course. As they say around here, you don’t plant your garden until after Victoria Day, which this year falls on the fourth Monday in May. Mind you, we’re already getting the outdoor living space ready, even if it’s too cold to sit outside and relax. My gas grill and charcoal smoker are ready for action.

I’ve passed the one-third mark on the seventh Siobhan Dunmoore adventure, but progress is coming in fits and starts since I’m world-building again to create the post-war Commonwealth and Fleet. And said world-building, of course, needs to account for things mentioned in Decker’s War when discussing that time in history. But it’s also interesting to create the foundations for the bridge between Dunmoore’s era and that of Decker, Morrow, and Ghost Squadron. I’m aiming for a summer publication date, most likely in July, barring any unforeseen circumstances.

In the meantime, stay safe and healthy, fellow humans. Peace.
